Activities
The delightfully informal, unhurried and unregimented way of life of Polynesia is emulated on board. A visit to the ship's Fare Tahiti Gallery, featuring Polynesian art and artifacts, will introduce you to the islands' colorful heritage. The pool invites you to an early morning dip while you can enjoy a full range of complimentary watersports at the state-of-the-art retractable watersports
platform. Watersports are a highlight of the Polynesian experience. The ship's small size allows it to navigate in shallow lagoons and narrow channels where larger ships may not sail. With the specially designed retractable watersports platform, guests may descend to sea level where they can conveniently hop aboard a windsurfer, launch a kayak, try a little waterskiing or set out for a SCUBA diving expedition. A scuba certification program is offered on board.
Dining
Paul Gauguin's restaurants are designed to compliment and enhance the dining experience, not overwhelm it. Dining is unhurried and relaxed - you may enjoy the pleasures of the table without the regimentation of assigned seating or having to rush through your dessert. Here, the constraints of formal wear, tuxedos and ties are forgotten and the only dress code is "relaxed." Complimentary wines are served with lunch and dinner, or you may select an alternative vintage available for purchase from the wine cellar. During normal dining hours, you may choose from the restaurants' menus and enjoy dinner in your stateroom or suite. A special 24-hour room service menu is also available.
Entertainment
In the evening, spirits are very much alive as guests enjoy Polynesian performances, dancing, cabaret singers, a casino and the warm camaraderie of fellow guests sharing the Paul Gauguin's highly personal, undiluted experience of French Polynesia. Watch spectacular performances such as an electrifying Polynesian show featuring the arts of the islands in the main lounge. One night it might be the soaring cappella harmonies of himene songs. Another might feature a thrilling performance of ote'a - a complex line dance accompanied by drums telling the ancestral legends of the Polynesian people. Later on in your cruise, you'll have a chance to learn how to dance in true Polynesian style from our wonderful Gauguines
performers. Sing along at the piano bar in this spectacular observation lounge atop the ship. At night it's transformed into a romantic nightclub where a chanteuse sings the Parisian blues and couples sway on the indoor/outdoor dance floor.
Spa
The Carita Spa on the Paul Gauguin is a one-of-a-kind sanctuary of peace and tranquility. Created by the legendary Carita sisters of Paris, enjoyed by celebrated patrons such as Catherine Deneuve and Paloma Picasso, here guests can indulge in an extensive list of exclusive beautifying services as well as the latest regimens of health and revitalization therapies. This ship is also equipped with a health club outfitted with the latest machines for fitness
training. Enter a world of serenity and beauty, where the sound of fountains, the glow of cool marble and the touch of the masseuse erase all cares. Take your pick of massage, thalassotherapy,
aromatherapy, wraps or steam room treatments - all skillfully administered by wonder-working hands.
